1. Understand the Tax Deadline

The first thing you need to prepare is to know the right time to file taxes. Usually, the tax filing period is from January to March 31 each year. 

Make sure you mark this date on your calendar to avoid missing it because, based on Law Number 28 of 2007 concerning General Provisions of Taxation (KUP), as last amended by Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning Tax Regulation Harmonization, there will be penalties for taxpayers who do not report their SPT.

2. Prepare the Required Documents

Prepare all the documents needed for your tax report. Here are some documents you need to prepare:

1. Form 1721 A1 or A2, which can be obtained from your office or workplace.
2. Other income data, obligations/debts, assets if any.
3. EFIN (Electronic Filing Identification Number ))

3. Prepare EFIN

Every taxpayer who wants to file SPT online must have an EFIN or Electronic Filing Identification NumberYou can apply for an EFIN by visiting the nearest tax office or doing it online.

Here are the steps to activate EFIN online:

1. Open the pajak.go.id website.
2. Click on the EFIN application, click on the PDF EFIN Application Form, and download it.
3. After filling out the form, open the efin.pajak.go.id page to register.
4. Click continue and start now, enter the taxpayer identification number (NPWP), and data according to your identity will appear.
5. If the name is correct, click continue. You will be directed to take a facial photo.
6. If your data is correct, a notification will appear that the EFIN is active. 
7. The EFIN will be sent to your registered email on the pajak.go.id account.

4. What if You Forget EFIN?

EFIN functions as one of the authentications so that every online tax transaction can be encrypted. If you forget the EFIN number, don't panic; you can retrieve it by contacting the tax office and providing the required information.

You also need to prepare the following data.

1. National Identity Card (KTP)
2. Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP).
3. Home address registered at the time of EFIN registration.
4. Email address and telephone number
5. Last year's SPT tax year.

After that, you can contact the tax officer through Kring Pajak 1500200, through Tax Chat on the pajak.go.id website, or through X @kring_pajak and inform them that you forgot the EFIN number. Then, the Tax officer will confirm your data.

5. Remember Your e-Filing Username and Password

As you know, the Annual Tax Report can be done online through e-Filing, which can be accessed on the djponline.pajak.go.id page. Therefore, you must remember your e-filing username and password.

But because tax filling is done once a year, you might forget your email or e-filing password. If you forget your password or email, you can click "Forgot Password" on the djponline.pajak.go.id login page and follow the instructions.
